Extra wardrobe doors & sides

Thanks to an almighty hiccup by George Asda, I have 2 extra wardrobe sides and doors. rather than the hassle of phoning and getting them taken back by Asda (was a faff to get the actual thing delivered in the first place, as they lost/damaged the original one). The wardrobe is rafferty nursery wardrobe.

I have thought about repurposing them as a bookshelf. I thought about using the sides as the side of the bookshelf and cutting down the doors for shelving.

My question is the doors have a shiny laminate cover. Not sure if there’s mdf or chipboard underneath. They are pretty hefty so hoping mdf.

How is the best way to cut these down and what’s the risk of the board splitting?

Any other ideas on how to reuse these rather than skipping them?
