Tape to hold down chair covers

I’ve recently bought some of those covers that go over dining chairs as the chairs were looking tatty, but it didn’t want to replace them. The problem is that they don’t stay in place very well. Does anyone have these and has also bought some double sided tape or similar to hold them in place? The chair legs are wooden, the seats are leather and the covers are a velvet type material. Thanks.

why don’t you re-cover? wouldn’t be too expensive if you already have the material

The seats have a wooden back with a leather panel down the middle and a leather seat which would make recovering difficult I would think.
