sanded wooden floors got dirty

hi, my husband and i sanded our floors and when it was time to varnish my husband said we'll varnish them in 2 days and so it was the weekend and naturally when you have kids the floor gets dirty and now that we have to varnish the floors tom i’m worried about the stains staying there and idk what to do, should i wipe the floors before? what should i do? plz help me if u have any idea on what to do.

I'd wipe them with a damp cloth and if they don't come off easily do a quick light sand over just the stains. I wouldn't wet the stains to much or you'll have to delay the varnishing. Good luck keeping the kits off the varnish until it has fully cured!

thank you, i’ll true and do that but we rented the sanding machine and we returned that so i’ll have to just pray it goes away. 😩 idk how i’m gonna keep them away!!?!

@huSna786 how much did it cost to borrow the machine and was it easy to do?

Could you get some sandpaper and just lightly sand the stains?

Wipe them with white spirit to avoid raising the grain and it will dry quickly.

Just lightly go over stains with some sandpaper - hand will be fine. Wrap it round something hard like an offcut of wood if yiu need to out more pressure on it. Do you have any sanding sheets leftover from the sanding machine? They will do the job if you don't have any sandpaper.
