I swear having a baby has zapped any creativity I used to have. Small, dark living room. Grey sofas, wooden floor, currently off white walls. I want a change of accessories./ colour. Hate the grey but new sofas are not currently an option so I thought changing throws/cushions and a new rug would bring it up to date cheaply? Any ideas on colours that are not old fashioned or dated, and that will bring my living room into 2024/2025? Thanks in advance to any suggestions!

What style are you going for? H&M do some lovely inexpensive cushions Like these and/or This

The British Blanket Company do lovely wool throws. Dunelm have every type of rug you can imagine … Ikea is great for rugs too.

I would avoid reds but that’s personal preference. I’m very much a believer in buy what you love for your home rather than following trends.

We used to have a small dark living room. I tried (in vain) to lighten it up but when we sold it the new owners painted it dark blue and leant into the dark, if that makes sense. It looked amazing! I’d never have had the creativity to do that (also had children which sapped any artistry)

Thank you, those cushions are lovely. I guess this is the problem, I have no idea what style I want, what I even like anymore. Have always preferred more traditional decoration with modern twists but just can’t seem to get any vision these days.

i'm currently a fan of terracotta

and put pictures on your walls - it makes a massive difference to have a wall of art and doesn't have to be expensive. buy a calendar of pictures you like and put 3 or 4 in Ikea frames or similar and hang them along a wall.
