Bedside table... pretty or practical?

I love the idea of a super basic, stool like table, but are they completely impractical?

In theory I only need room for a lamp, water and book... but our home is small and it seems like a decadent use of the limited space!

Can get something nice with a drawer and storage underneath... but will be more clunky (room is not huge either, about 3.5 x 4m).

I'm also worried it will get filled with stuff that should live elsewhere and disturb the peaceful bedroom vibe!

(Does anyone else think about this stuff?!)

Maybe there's another option I haven't considered! Want to get it right first time to not be squandering money.

When we had a small room, we got floating wall mounted bedside tables. Being wall mounted seemed to make the room feel much more spacious

The wall mounted one we got did have a drawer. Was really useful to put stuff in like passports, night cream, and lots of other bits and pieces.

To make it feel less cluttered, you could wall mount wall lights either side of the headboard. Either get an electrician to chase them in, or get plug in wall lights if you want less disruption. Pooky lighting do wall mounted lamps that can charged rather than the normal plug in electric ones, might be worth a look OP

@dontcallmelen thank you so much!!! I had already started wondering if loose cables would look unsightly because of where the plugs are! And don't want to get an electrician in. Perfect!!!

Do you upcycle op? A small stool can make a great bedside table...
