Rope light-pull

I'm looking for a fabric rope light-pull for the bathroom Ideally black. Needs to be about 180 cm long for my ridiculously high ceiling.
It is SO difficult! I'd have thought these things were everywhere.
Has anyone got one/seen one?

Ribbon? Or buy some fabric and make one?

Really want rope, not ribbon, as it gets a lot of use. And I'm not handy Grin

Have you tried a hardware store?

MarkWithaC · 16/09/2024 14:59

Haven't been to any real shops, no, just looked online. I might want something more decorative than a hardware shop would have.

If you get a large pull-handle, the rope won't get dirty.

Depending on your decor, something lightweight, homemade or repurposed could work.

Cord from a haberdashery shop?

Pale shiny bathroom with some dark tiles and furniture. It's quite spacious (vertically at least), so it can take a thick cord. I was thinking like an old-fashioned butler-type bell-pull. I thought eBay would be brimming with things like that, but not so far.

Yes, might work, if it's thick enough and looks 'finished'.

Paracord. Buy it from Amazon in different lengths and colours.

MarkWithaC · 16/09/2024 15:31

I want a thicker one, more like a rope really.

was trying to link directly to their black rope options which they sell by the metre.

Thanks all. Nothing is quite right though; I really want a thick rope that looks like or is a luxe fabric ie not a nautical 'rough' vibe or bell-ringer style. Open-minded as to whether it has a tassel or not, but I'm definitely after what I suppose is a Gothic-type aesthetic.

How about altering a curtain tie back?

How will you attach it if you have a standard pull string light fitting? And you are not handy.

Unicorntastic · 17/09/2024 13:47

You need to look in those shops/online stores that sell high end soft furnishings.

They're not long enough, but I like the principle; thanks!

Don't know! A friend has something sort of what I'm after; I haven't scrutinised the fitting, but have assumed I can make it work...

If you use something too heavy on a pull switch, then it can't click back up and so won't turn on/off properly. I only know this because I made this mistake with a heavy beaded handle for the bottom of mine.

Good point! The one my friend has works OK but I will have to be careful about that.

Might not be wide enough?
