Anybody have any suggestions with what curtains or blinds might go with this wallpaper?

Living area rest of the walls are green?

Thanks

I'd probably pick out one of the neutral colours from the birds.

MrsMitford3 · 15/09/2024 18:59

Absolutely gorgeous!!

I would also use a neutral ish colour from the birds-the slightly darker sandy brown from the wings.

are the walls the green from the paper? Or could you do a different shade of green? slightly lighter?

think I have changed my mind about the bird colour-are the curtains on the wall with the wall paper or the painted wall?

Appleberrybloom · 15/09/2024 19:09

Thanks for your replies!

@Rosemarypots this was my thought by there's so many to pick from!

@MrsMitford3 both windows are on the non wallpapered wall and the walls are a lighter sagey green.

I have spotted these, thoughts? I think any of the 3 colours could work

The strawberry thief! One of my favourite Morris prints!
Agree with two pp that a neutral sandy/ tan brown colour to compliment would be the easiest on the eye.

unsync · 15/09/2024 19:23

I'd go with the strawberries and make it pop. This is my favourite WM in my favourite colourway.

MrsMitford3 · 15/09/2024 20:23

I think out of the dunelm links I like the green

Soonenough · 15/09/2024 20:27

I would stick to plain curtains maybe velvet in a gold / sand colour

TianasBayou · 15/09/2024 20:33

I'd go all out and buy matching curtains and paper all the walls.

Appleberrybloom · 15/09/2024 20:46

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I had considered velvet blinds in the blue from the design. What do people think of blinds in living space? Or our curtains cosier?

OP posts:
ShrubRose · 15/09/2024 21:45

I prefer curtains - cosier and more sound-absorbing. Possibly more insulating as well depending on the thickness of the fabric and the lining.

Soonenough · 15/09/2024 23:34

Definitely curtains . More in keeping with print. As I said above velvet would be lush. I did think blue as well but would it be too overpowering? Is the wall with paper a large one ? Personally would want the wallpaper the main feature.

ShrubRose · 16/09/2024 00:10

I would do a solid fabric rather than a pattern - I think it would highlight The Strawberry Thief rather than competing with it.

What colour are your sofa(s)?

DesigningWoman · 16/09/2024 00:22

Floor-length, entirely plain velvet curtains in the green or the blue, whichever looks best with the colour of the non-papered walls (though I’d paper the whole room in this). Or, if you wanted a lighter look, the sandy beige of the thrushes?

Geneticsbunny · 16/09/2024 07:32

If it's on a different wall then you could buy strawberry thief curtains? I think John Lewis do premade ones.

Santasbigredbobblehat · 16/09/2024 07:36

TianasBayou · 15/09/2024 20:33

I'd go all out and buy matching curtains and paper all the walls.

I was going to say this.

Appleberrybloom · 16/09/2024 08:03

Thanks everyone, I think you've convinced me on velvet curtains, the width of my window lends itself to floor length.

For those of you suggesting more strawberry theif...I do love it and may add more at some point but on a bit of a budget and also it's our main living area and think it lends itself to being a bit lighter. I have got the william morris bug though and thinking about doing out snug out in it too!

For any William Morris fans, habitat have just bought out a gorgeous collaboration (their curtains don't come in the size I need) but I will be purchasing a few WM accessories and cushions.
