Two Owls - Which do you prefer?

Owls are approx 23 cm high and 16 cm wide. Which colour do you prefer and how much, if anything, would you pay? They are made from concrete and are garden ornaments.

Two Owls - Which do you prefer?

Neither are something I'd have, I don't like garden ornaments so am not yr target market! I probably prefer the first one.

ApolloandDaphne · 15/09/2024 09:55

I'm not one for garden ornaments but I prefer the one on the left as it looks more natural and would look nicer in a garden setting

Nannyfannybanny · 15/09/2024 09:55

The grey one. Why bother to say you don't actually like garden ornaments! I have a large garden, I've got status bird baths,a mermaid (we're only 10 minutes away from the sea) squirrels,an owl. Full size geese behind a fence, used to be a wildflower area around a little orchard.

DillDanding · 15/09/2024 09:56

Neither! But if I had to choose, the left one.

Sparklywhiteteeth · 15/09/2024 09:57

The only on the left. The brass one, prob about 15 quid as they are so small.

It’s a crowded market op as well.

HappyDane · 15/09/2024 09:58

It depends on what you're matching it to.

Judging purely by the owls themselves I'd pick the brass - I prefer the warmer finish.

KnickerlessParsons · 15/09/2024 10:03

Brass if pushed. But neither really.

Sparklywhiteteeth · 15/09/2024 10:27

Looking on line they generally retail for 10 to 15 quid. I guess you bought a mould? The brass one you can prob charge more for.

they are prolific but that also means popular. There is a market. Every garden centre has them.

LittleGreenDragons · 15/09/2024 10:31

I detest concrete coloured things so any colour would be better, however I do like the brass/brown one a lot. No idea on price as I've never bought a garden ornament before as I have always been (randomly) gifted by my ornament mad DM 😂

Stichintime · 15/09/2024 10:34

I don't like either, just like the flowers on your other thread!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 15/09/2024 10:34

The one on the left. I'm also not a fan of garden ornaments but they are quite nice as ornaments go. I agree with a pp, I'd probably pay about £15 or £20.

HappyDane · 15/09/2024 10:38

Oh...to answer the other question: I wouldn't buy one I'm afraid as they're really not my thing. But if I were I don't think I'd pay more than it would cost to buy something similar at a mid-range shop. No idea what that amount is since I've never bought any! You also have to factor in shipping costs if you're going to sell these.

Bestyearever2024 · 15/09/2024 10:39

I prefer the gold colour and I'd pay £15 - £20.

Mum loved owls so it'd be nice to have in the garden 🥰

BobbyBiscuits · 15/09/2024 10:41

I do love owls, but I don't really think garden ornaments like this are to my taste. I guess the gold coloured one is a bit better. They're not horrible. But I wouldn't pay more than twenty quid. Only bc I wouldn't really buy it.

Anoisagusaris · 15/09/2024 10:42

Neither.

User050105 · 15/09/2024 10:44

The grey one looks dead behind the eyes. Its eyes give me the creeps.

The gold one looks a bit more friendly so I'd prefer it. I realise it also has blank eyes but they're somehow not so obvious.

If I was buying one I'd pay £10-15. Not much more. I imagine I could buy one in Home Bargains for a fiver.

OpalSquid · 15/09/2024 10:44

The grey one is nicer but I wouldn’t buy it as all my garden ornaments are Cotswold stone colour.
I would pay up to £20 if it was the right colour.

Thevelvelletes · 15/09/2024 11:01

2nd thread like this, the other was concrete vase and black and white flowers.
Bit of advertising, marketing.?.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/09/2024 11:04

I prefer the one on the right

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 15/09/2024 11:10

I don't like either colour. Is it possible to get it in 'natural' concrete, as it would age better.

Probably £12 - £15.

user1492757084 · 15/09/2024 11:15

The owl on the left.
I'd pay 20 - 30 and I'd nestle him in plants.

FloofPaws · 15/09/2024 11:18

I like the grey one; up to £20

TeaAndCakeFTW · 15/09/2024 11:19

I like the bronzy gold one. The second reminds me of plastic ones and shit you see at the market.

Neveranynamesleft · 15/09/2024 11:19

Neither as the colours look odd.

BobandRobertaSmith · 15/09/2024 11:20

I don’t like either but I prefer the bronze colour. However, the grey colour is the most common colour for garden ornaments so I guess so I guess people might want them to match other ones (if you are selling) or (if you are buying) it would be easier to match if you want more ornaments in the future. They are pretty cheap to buy in garden centres/DIY stores. I would say £10, £15 max.
