We have stained solid oak interior doors. They are 20+ years old and have gone a yellowish colour. We moved in 10 years ago and I have always disliked them. They are still being sold for approx £250 each and we've been told by many people (including staff at local door retailer) that we would be mad to get rid of them. I have compromised and agreed to have them painted.
Before we get the doors painted the Hallway is being tiled (pic of tiles attached). The hallway is long and all downstairs doors - 6 in total - go off the hallway. Upstairs there are 5 doors which go off the landing - they will also be repainted.
I need advice on the following
- Which paint finish - eggshell?
- What colour for the doors? Our preference is for warm neutral colours (not grey or white). We only use dulux. Hall is currently painted in Egyptian Cotton (but will be repainted - same or similar). So a warm neutral dulux paint - crispy crumble, thimble case, ... - any suggestions?
- The surrounds will be painted also as they too have gone yellowish - do we go same colour as the doors or a lighter neutral (not white) for a bit of contrast
- Wooden spindles and handrail on staircase will also be repainted - same colour as door surrounds maybe?
All comments and suggestions gratefully received!! Thanks in advance.
