I have a single fitted mattress protector ( waterproof terry toweling ones)on each sofa with a single fleece bedsheet over each one, so it just looks like a fluffy throw but the bonus is they don't slip off. I have a spare set for when they are in the wash so my sofa is never bare. It's 5 years old and is like brand new despite having a 4 and 5 year old . I will try find links and add.
