Having bedding dyed?

I'm bored with my white bedding but it's 600tc Egyptian cotton in excellent condition and has years of life left in it yet, so I was thinking about having it dyed. For a superkingsize bed, the duvet cover is heavy as well as large: there's no way I'd do this myself at home.

Has anyone had this done and, if so, do you have any advice?

I've not had bedding dyed, but tbh I would be very hesitant - if the fabric is not brand-spanking-new, there will be variations across it that will cause it to take the dye unevenly, and of course you would be gambling on the colour.

I would get some sort of throw in a colour and pattern I liked to lay across it to give it some life, and get pillow shams to match.

Good point about variations across the fabric, thank you. Even though it's white, I dare say they'll be there.

I might get a bedspread/throw made (I've yet to see one I really like that doesn't cost 2 arms & a leg) which will cover the pillow because I can''t be bothered faffing about with pillow shams tbh.

@NotMyFIrstTIme Did you go ahead? I've dyed a super king duver cover and white linen curtains before quite successfully. I'm thinking of doing it again with a sage green linen duvet and pillowcases which are brand new and never used, but just not my shade.

I didn't.
Having whinged about the cost of the bedspreads I liked, I gave myself an early Xmas present and took advantage of PigletInBed's Black Friday offers!
At least I now have 2 sets of bedding for the cost of one bedspread. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

Haha @NotMyFIrstTIme . I did much the same and put the brand new on EBAY last night. What did you buy at Piglet? Which did you choose - I like the mushroom linen gingham but it was sold out in some of my options ( just as well)

I went for plain linen: one set in Dusk Blue & one in Elderberry.
