Thinking of revamping my interior, feel like I want a change and I need to change the carpet on stairs...I saw this and really liked it but not sure if it would look as good as it does in the pictures.

Has anyone done something similar in a house that isn't victorian e.g. bog standard terrace house so does not have the long entrance and high ceilings? Does it work?

It works for me in my 70/80's style 3 bed end of terrace. I haven't got any white skirting boards or architrave...

Yes a family member has done this in black with black doors, whilst it looks lovely and modern the heavy use areas are starting to chip after only a year. I guess that's because they didn't do proper paint prep but I'm not sure.

It’s not just the skirting though, it’s the ‘woodwork’, doors and the stair panels, which why it works in that picture.

Will you be painting the doors the same colour too?

I have. It looks nice but has a couple of scuffs from the hoover hitting it which show up more than the white skiting in other rooms.

On the flip side It's about 9 years old and looks much fresher than the 9 year old white paint which all needs repainting.
