Who makes really excellent quality armchairs?

I need a couple of new armchairs for my lounge, on looking online most seem to be lightweight and poor quality, they don't look at all sturdy. I want something of a high quality that will last for a very long time.even if it means paying a bit extra.

Any suggestions please?

There are various independent furniture makers. We couldn't find anything that met our requirements for size and upholstery when we needed to replace our suite, but then came across a firm which turned out to be quite local to us. Bespoke good quality furniture for a reasonable enough price (no middlemen or big shops)

The firm we used was James and Rose but there are others around.

We have Gplan - very comfortable and sturdy. I'd also consider mid century modern perhaps get recovered. Quite a bit about secondhand.

ercol. The most comfortable furniture ever. Well made and long lasting.

Parker and knoll.

We liked the look of Parker Knoll but were pretty sure they wouldn't go through our doors!

Also considered reupholstering our previous suite but it seemed nearly as expensive as buying a new one.

Ercol. Some of ours is over 50 years old. We have had it reupholstered twice but the frames are perfect still.

Lots available secondhand.

G plan are very sturdy I love ours plenty of choice in styles too

Parker Knoll, but not sure if they're very fashionable these days.
