HELP - What colour furniture

We’ve just moved into a flat which is pretty neutral - wooden floors and grey/blue walls. We’ll be buying things like the living room coffee and side tables from IKEA, as well as the drawers and wardrobes. My question is, what colour furniture do we go for? I don’t want to go for wooden things in case they clash with the floors. It leaves me with white and black, and my first thought was white (maybe because I have a crap IKEA white tv stand at the moment). The problem is my partner rightfully doesn’t want our flat to look like an IKEA show room/crap student digs but I was thinking we’d soften the place with decorations/furnishings and our prints in black frames. I think black may equally be as harsh for furniture. Any suggestions?

I’ve attached a pretty poor photo but it shows that it’s an open place space - atm we have a dark green velvet cord sofa as well if that helps, and wanting to add burnt orange decorations/soft furnishings

Dark Blue/navy goes nicely with burnt orange / greys and white.

I'd go for wood. You can add a carpet and window coverings that will add colour.

@muggletops Thank you, I’m not the biggest fan of blue/navy but I’ll consider it!

@TwinklyNight Yeah I was thinking orange cushions and an orange and white checkerboard rug. Do you have advice for choosing wooden furniture when the floors are already wooden? I don’t want it to clash and I’m crap at this stuff

Everybody likes differant colours, but I think a darker colour wood would look good with orange and the contrasting wood colours may be nice.

Lighter wood does look really good with orange and I think you said you have a green sofa.. Does ikea still have the furniture thst looks sort of driftwoodsy taupe? I think it could be nice. Your floor colour will look good with anything. Plants and art and a mirror too.

I think looking at Ikea showrooms may show something to be your inspiration room? Pinterest or even google images too, search "ikea livingroom" there. When I looked just now at ikea images I saw pale floors and white, black and wood all looked good with an area rug. Sorry I'm not much help, I come to this thread for ideas myself. :)
Update. There is an Ikea app that is supposed to help visualize your room!

Buying from IKEA I'd buy the solid wood furniture that can be painted or restained easily. But rather than buying fairly disposable furniture look at FBMP and Gumtree and ebay for second hand fiurniture to get a mix of things that gives a more personal look.
