This is not my house. But the style is similar, except we have a bay window in the living room not a flat window, and we don't have double doors leading to a dining room. Currently the walls are greige and I don't like it any more. The room is south facing and gets a lot of light through the huge windows, we have pale wood flooring (which is in good condition and I am not intending to change).

We are thinking of going for a dark colour as I think given the light coming in and the pale floor we can get away with it. Any suggestions or links to similar 1960s properties which have used a dark wall shade in this way?

I wouldn't paint it dark.

A dark blue/teal?

Try googling mid-century modern dark walls or something like that.

Generally white is the go to but a dark colour would work. What are your furnishings like?

I wouldn't get drawn into it being a 60's house. If yours is similar to that one, it doesn't exactly scream 60's interior design / architectural features to me.
