Karndean, Amtico, Brampton Chase or Aspire LVT?

Hello all,

Any advice around types of LVT flooring? We’ve been recommended a brand called Aspire.

The flooring person said this is similar quality to Amtico but lower in price due to being newer & lesser known. Anyone had Aspire LVT?

The main thing for me is value for money followed by colour, if it is as the flooring person said, I’d be happy to compromise colour for the same quality and lower price.

However I don’t want to compromise quality AND colour.

I much prefer the Karndean and Amtico colour ranges including powdered oak, glacier oak, dutched lime, those types of cool beiges.

Aspire range is much more limited in colour and I don’t think will go as well! Any thoughts or preferences? Please see attached the pictures for colour references (the more grey one is aspire and the beige is the colour I actually want).

Avoid grey at any costs. It’s already so dated. Beige is best. Good luck.

We’ve got moduleo….it was cheaper than kardean and amtico…..loads of choice…..we went for a country oak…..we got it right thru the downstairs …..it’s been down 8 years and still looks like it’s just been laid

get it expertly fitted though….and correct floor prep….that’s where people go wrong…..our floor prep and fitting cost almost as much as the product

Defo not grey

Karndean would be the best option in my opinion. Cheaper than Amtico but much better quality than the other cheap, lesser known brands you’ve listed. I had a cheap version once & it squeaked when walked on so I had it ripped up & replaced with Karndean.

Yes our fitting is more expensive! I’ll have a look at that one thank you 😊

I totally agree but my partner keeps saying for the price difference it’s worth it and that it’s also not fully grey. Colour below for reference

They’ve quoted us the same for amtico and karndean!

I had Karndean Knight Tile (second cheapest of their range) put down four or five years ago, and it still looks like it did the day it was put down. I'm really pleased with it. I prefer a warmer honey colour, so can't advise on yours. I think mine is french oak?

Twistybranch · 24/07/2024 19:09

Hmmmmm it has a grey/white wash. I would class as grey but if you both like it, go for it

I am thinking knight tile Dutch Lime! I think it’s lovely?

Yep, that colour would be too cold feeling for me. Especially on a dark day in winter. The picture of the room in the OP, makes me feel depressed and want to switch a light on!

But obviously there'll now be a stream of posts from people who have that living room vibe and love it 😅

ETA, the initial colour! We cross posted

I'm not a fan of limed wood effect, but I definitely prefer that to the first one!

What’s limed would effect? I thought it was just what the colour was called!

It's where there's kind of a white 'wash' effect over natural wood. So basically it's supposed to look like the wood has been given a lime wash. So it's a cooling effect

saraclara · 24/07/2024 19:35

I think your Dutch limed oak is warmer than most limed effect colours though. So I approve, you'll be relieved to hear!

I know exactly what you mean now! I think I wanted just a hint of coolness in there so maybe I chose that because of it. I think it’s still warm though. I just don’t want grey, but I how it seems silly to pay so much extra for a colour.

I don't know. The great thing about this flooring is that it's very long lasting. So if the colour's not quite what you want, you might have spent a bit less, but you've kind of wasted it, and you're stuck with a colour that's not quite right, for a very long time.

I'd shop around for the best price for the one you like most (but from a place that's very experienced in laying the stuff).

We went for Karndean which was fitted so badly we had various conversations with the supplier about how much we were going to pay... We had Amtico in our last house ages ago and I preferred that though don't know how much is down to the fitting.

We also went for a grey wash which I regret too though ours is in a kitchen not a living room.

CanelliniBeans · 09/11/2024 17:30

Had Karndean in a previous house, moved after 10 years but when we left it was a good as new.
Currently have Amtico. It was expensive but it wears well and we have two big dogs.

Nic0303 · 24/03/2025 11:18

Hi just wondering if you went with the Aspire LVT and if so can comment on quality? Thanks

MrsFaustus · 24/03/2025 11:36

We have Karndean French Oak throughout and it’s lovely. We looked at a cooler oak but when we saw a larger sample in a shop it looked very faded, so try and see more of it than the square they send you!

I definitely agree with that. Our local supplier kindly loaned me a full plank sized piece of each of the three colours I was choosing between. They were much easier to choose from, at that size.

moleeye · 24/03/2025 19:37

I’ve got black Amtico in my hallway -was laid about 4 years ago, still looks pristine. Took 2 days and prep/fitting cost more than the flooring.

I love it. It’s durable and has no scuff marks despite how my kids and the cat treat it…!

Sunbeam01 · 31/03/2025 21:57

I would not lay LTV with all the research regarding microplastics.
