DIY KITCHENS

Not worked out how to join other threads yet but want to discuss DIY ‘custom colour’ kitchens. We have dark green. Lovely colour, really pleased but it chips / marks really easily. Trying to resolve with DIY proving very difficult and long drawn out process. They want us to take off, package and post back one of the affected items. Onus completely on customer. . Dread to imagine how it would be with active toddlers racing around. So far (and kitchen only 5 months old) with two end panels, one drawer and one cupboard affected. AVOID - not recommended.

Whereabouts is it chipped and what's it marked with ??

Paint is chipped off showing white underneath on cabinet door, two end panels and one drawer panel. There is also a mark on one end panel that will not come off.

They came out and resprayed ours in situ about 4 years ago. Just the chilled bits

Thanks for your response. Interesting that yours needed it done too. Must be bad finishing. I am working on getting someone here as its a problem they obviously have with some finishes but they have dragged their feet. I think I am getting there. Just something I wish I didn’t have to do with a comparatively new kitchen.
shame.

We had a custom colour and I was aware that they are slightly less robust than the premade ones. I think it was damaged during transport. We haven't had any other chips subsequently.

Sounds like you are really fed up of kitchen renovation which is totally understandable. It isn't the most relaxing thing to do!

Either way, the experience of one or two people doesn't really tell you what a company is like. There are lots of threads on the DIY board about diy kitchens. If you get this thread moved over, I suspect you will get a lot more responses about other people's experiences.
