Hi,
I'd love to find out more about the cost of a Howdens Elmbridge Kitchen. Does anyone have any information they can share? And are you happy with the Elmbridge kitchen? :-)

No idea but I like it too. Hope someone can help.
I love the white sink.

icannotmakeonemoredecision · 03/07/2024 22:45

I'm about 3 weeks away from having it fitted in my kitchen so can't comment on what it's like, but I am very excited and can come back to show you when it's done if no one else does first.

What info are you looking for on price?

KirstenBlest · 03/07/2024 22:58

I've just blown my budget on some new tea towels and was just bumping the thread, but I do like it. Smile

Themuffintop · 03/07/2024 23:28

We have an Elmbridge and absolutely love it. Fantastic quality. £20k I think including the builder, but not including new appliances. Money well spent.

Do you have the pan drawers? I'd better start dreaming and saving. My kitchen is tiny so shouldn't be that much.

I'd love to see some photos when you have it installed - very exciting!
I'm trying to decide between the Elmbridge, Wren Henley Timber Inframe or the DIY Kitchens Helmsley. The Elmbridge price I've been given is £13K and it's not a big kitchen. The Henley $7K and waiting for the Helmsley. Those prices are for the kitchen units only. Do you mind me asking what size your kitchen is and how much you paid for the Elmbridge?

I'm sure everyone has their own horror stories of all companies but my parents had a Wren kitchen and it was very disappointing all round. The laminate blew on the doors, a unit fell off the wall (insurance said manufacturing error, not fitter), and it looked a bit shabby fairly quickly (trims coming off shelves etc) so that put me off.

Price wise for the Elmbridge we have:
One wide pull out larder unit, housing unit for an American fridge freezer, housing unit with cupboards for 2 fitted ovens, a breakfast pantry, 3 sets of drawers, 6 or maybe 8 wall units. An island with a double butler sink, bin unit and cupboards underneath (and dishwasher integration pack). All with decorative plinths and chunky end posts. Extractor fan included and all drawer inserts, bins etc. oh and a corner cupboard with pull out shelves and we paid £18k. Maybe £18200 something like that. Hope that helps!!

An island would be heavenly! I so wish I had a bigger kitchen space for one. :-) My kitchen is quite small—3.2m x 3.0m—and I've been quoted £13K. It's not that big a space, and the smoke and mirrors pricing approach makes me feel like it's not a good price. The £13K is just for the units/cupboards and sink. No extractor or appliances in that. Here is my design to see the number of units/cupboards. What are your thoughts on the price? https://my-kitchen.howdens.com/Plan?Id=May%2F31%2FE8503550132_DE85_1717170525

That looks lovely OP- watching with interest since we need to do ours (after bathroom & en suite)!

Help1needed · 06/07/2024 14:04

can't help with the Elmbridge but we have just ordered a kitchen with Howdens - and pushed back hard on their pricing. i didn't love their approach but the style of kitchen we wanted was only available 3 places and they were the most convenient/the builder likes them.

we had a quote from Magnet as well that probably worked out cheaper (difficult to tell exactly as they'd done different layouts) and Howdens then gave us the original discount we'd been offered plus an extra discount if we had it delivered before the cut off of the sales period - ten days later.

DeedlessIndeed · 06/07/2024 14:09

OP send your DIY kitchens plan to Howdens and ask them to price match. We got our utility dropped from something like £10K to £6K for cabinetry. I think we went with Chilcomb inframe for the solid wood doors and had the decorative plinth and cornice.

Our builder has done a lot of projects with us, and told us to negotiate hard with Howdens as they'd basically bumped up the prices. They also ask the builder how much they want added on to the cost. Which was not particularly transparent at the time.

DeedlessIndeed · 06/07/2024 14:11

Also, get your worktops quoted by an independent fitter if you are going for quartz or similar. Howdens had quoted for the same product but took a big old cut of that too, so we also knocked off a couple of K on the worktop.

JacksonAverysEyes · 24/10/2024 16:03

@roseeclare
I know your thread is from a while ago but I’m just wondering g what decision you made. Was DIY Kitchens any cheaper than Howdens? I’m looking at the two ranges you mentioned but haven’t had my quotes through yet.

Katb202060 · 27/11/2024 21:14

I would be interested too, can you pop a photo of your kitchen live to see it. thanks

BangingOn · 27/11/2024 21:19

We have a DIY Helmsley and are really pleased with it, the quality is brilliant and it looks fantastic.

Whistleblo · 12/07/2025 19:57

Howdens make up the prices and so do the fitters. Their “Business model” has no transparency and should not be allowed in my view. I would never use them again.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 13/07/2025 10:25

Yes some laughable prices here. 20K for a small Howdens kitchen?!

Delaminatingnightmare · 05/12/2025 01:00

I would never ever recommend Howdens. They never get back to you with queries. The end panels over our cooker hood has started to delaminate (builder has contacted Dinnington,Sheffield branch) someone has stated "it looks like water ingress!". Doh its above the cooker. The extractor fan doesn't extract at a rate (supplied by them) to remove all excess steam. Not fit for purpose! Last kitchen lasted for 20yrs. I very much doubt this one will. Quite honestly disgusted with their customer service. Ask for a breakdown of the cost of individual products as we feel we've been ripped off big time. Further update to follow. No direct
manufacturers written warranty! Photo taken after approx six months above cooker! Other side is showing similar delamination!

I feel the same - we went with Howdens because that's what the builder we were using wanted but just feel like everything is smoke and mirrors... one of the end panels beside a window is starting to look like your picture and our extractor is also useless.

deeply regret not going with Magnet (who had a similar looking kitchen, we were really restricted by the style of units I wanted) where we would have had the direct relationship with the supplier.

PatheticDistraction · 05/12/2025 07:36

One thing we did with our Howdens kitchen was take their design & get a like for like quote (we went to Bradfords from memory) - they knocked £4k off the final price.

I felt naughty doing it - but it was one of their own staff who encouraged me!
