Omelet redecoration - where to start?

We have been saving for a while to get the flat done up from scratch - the whole shebang.

We don’t need windows or building work done, but it’s very tired and needs redecoration from top to bottom with some cosmetic work done (wall cracks, bit of damp in the back room, floors sanded and bare varnished…). Most of the furniture can happily go (we bought what we could afford as we went along and it’s all just too big) and we want wall until build in the bedrooms and bookshelves on the walls in the living room and hallway.

literally take everything out and start again.

Where to start? Are there companies that can just come in and help? I’m
hopeless at this kind of thing and since we have saved hard to get it all done, want to get it right.

assume your thread title is a typo?

you can get an interior designer in - I’ve used on a couple of occasions and they’ve been very helpful and can often help source tradespeople

you need to do the dirty work first so filling in, any plastering etc decorating and then flooring and built in stuff

I really hoped this was going to be about decorating an Eglu chicken coop 🤣

Is this the sort of thing you had in mind?

A sprinkling of chives would work well, maybe…?

How exciting!!!

Do you at least have an idea of what you want each room to look like? Colours? Vibe? Style? I tend to spend a while thinking about each room, looking online for inspiration, Pinterest and Instagram, then I'll end up finding one thing that I love that I want in the room and they will be the source of so the inspiration for that room. For example a beautiful painted sink I found in Morocco became the starting point for the main bathroom. A rug I loved became the starting point for the living room, and a star wars art print was the string point for one of my ds's rooms.

I'm about to start the dining room renovation but I have yet to find my source of inspiration, although I have a vague idea of the paint colours I want and the overall vibe I want in there.

I build all my own wardrobes.

Go with what you love, in your heart, not what you think other people might like. Decorate your house for you, not for anyone else

An interior designer would be a good place to start if you really have no idea.

Also watch pretended like interior design masters as they might give your inspiration.

Good luck!

Heh heh heh - I love a good omelette and that does take me back to when I used to make DSs food into shapes and animals (actually I still squirt a ketchup face in his French toast and make faces on his pizza - best was when I realised that if you make muffins in silicone gingerbread man moulds and put jam in the centre it squirts out like a little murder victim…but I digress).

Im stressing because we have so much crap (and certain people won’t throw anything out) and not a lot of room so we’ll probably need to move out whilst the main areas are getting done (we just can’t Tetris our way around it). Oh the thought of packing everything away! 😫
