Stripe carpet/landing on stairs direction?

As the title 😂
The landing is at right angles to the stairs.
It's a bold strip.
Which way would the stripes go? Does it matter?
I feel if they went lengthways it would make landing feel longer.
Sorry for the crap picture 🤣

Thank you.
I meant the landing bit, should it go length ways which is at right angles to the stairs carpet or follow the direction of the stairs and go across the landing.

I could have sworn ours went like your top drawing, but I've just checked and they are actually like your bottom picture Grin

I think if the stairs were in a different direction to the landing, then you might have to have the top stair riser going the same way as the landing (I.e. at right angles to the rest of the stairs), otherwise I don't know how you'd manage the join. But the different direction on just that stair might look odd.

Definitely stripes going up and down the stairs, though.

Thank you, the carpet we are getting is very similar to yours. I might go in and get a sample to try. I really don't know what to do 🤣

once we got to the little square at the top of the stairs our stripey carpet then went at a right angle up the other stair to the big landing.

A good carpet shop should be able to give some advice, probably.

We have 2 sets of stairs, at 90 degrees to each other.
Both flights have the stripes as in the photos.
The landing matches the lower flight of stairs - again, as per photos. It us the second flight where the change in direction occurs. Does that make sense?

The pile has to follow the direction of the stairs so it would be like the second picture. The first riser comes out of the landing piece so you can't really turn it the other way.

Thanks everyone! Yes I get what you are all saying :)

We have stripes on the stairs and a plain colour on the landing, from the same manufacturer so the plain piece is an identical colour match to one of the stripes.

Here is ours (if it helps)
