What colour walls with fuschia sofas?

Am feeling brave and about to purchase bright pink/ fuschia velvet sofas for currently magnolia NE facing room.
Any ideas which bold colours would suit walls? Am tempted to try out teal on a feature wall only and a neutral on remaining but not sure if this would look ‘unfinished’?
Its a large room, pale grey carpet and a bay window. Not decorated for years so want a change!

Look up colored wheels you can buy them

You can then either go for a suitable tone or an opposite colour

Thanks @Scarletttulips
I really didn’t think of that!

Can we see the sofa please?

Scarletttulips · 07/06/2024 20:44

Example here - you need to stay in the colour wheel - looks like fuchsia is third from the middle - so you can choose a colour from the same row - with hints from either side - does that make sence?

Looking at the wheel - teal is too dark and the triangle suggests more of a mint green

Scarletttulips · 07/06/2024 20:46

You can buy more detailed colour wheels!!

Something else you can do is look for a cushion and see what the designers are using colour wise - very similar colours are used in both designs.

Pink with green is a wonderful combo I think. Infact I've just decorated my dds bedroom emerald green with fuchsia pink accessories and it looks fab. Paint was Dunelm emerald.

This is it.

Think about a zingy turquoise with the fuchsia perhaps?

ByBrightSloth · 07/06/2024 21:30

I don’t think you should go for a coloured sofa because then everything else will have to match around it or it will look odd but if you do go for the pink I think you should go for floral wallpaper

StandardSize14 · 07/06/2024 21:39

idnhave emerald green or a dark navy

HippyKayYay · 07/06/2024 21:42

Totally diaageee with that colour wheel. You want a really dark green. My living room is Little Greene ‘invisible green’ and bright pink would look great against it. But don’t do a ‘feature wall’. It’s all or nothing with bold colour.

HippyKayYay · 07/06/2024 21:43

And if you do go dark green don’t do pure white on the woodwork/ ceiling. You need a softer one otherwise the contrast is too stark

GrouchyKiwi · 07/06/2024 21:44

I've also done DD's room in dark green and added accents of fuchsia. It looks fantastic.

ringoftruth · 07/06/2024 21:47

My therapist has fuscia details in her office with a gorgeous soft duck egg blue couch (I say duck egg blue, I mean the mint blue green shade on the colour wheel that matches with the fuscia) It works so well! I'd probably paint the walls a similar shade to that so your fuscia sofa really stands out against it otherwise it may get somewhat lost. Sounds gorgeous though!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 07/06/2024 22:15

Darker grey blue, pale pink, white or grey. Although I hate grey, and always have.

Oh, I'm looking at getting the same sofa but in damson! I need to go back to JL to try it out again though - originally saw it in one JL but was in a rush so only had a quick sit down on it and I quite liked it. Popped into my local JL yesterday and the one they had there was a bit more battered in terms of the back cushions so not sure how well it's going to hold up (also don't know how long they've had it as a display model).

Whiskeytot · 08/06/2024 11:02

Thanks everyone
lots to think about. Am liking the turquoise idea actually.
@NoIdeaWhyNow I looked at the JL ones and family have some which over time the back cushions have got baggy. But who knows with any brand what happens!

@Whiskeytot it was the Swyft Model 10 in JL. I've spent a good 20 mins this afternoon sitting on it instore and it's really comfy. My head's been turned by one in Barker & Stonehouse so decisions to make this weekend...

MummyJ12 · 08/06/2024 18:07

Eau de Nil or grey.

I have a pinkish chesterfield loveseat in our open plan area, it actually goes really nice with the F&B Dropcloth that I have on the walls. It’s more of a greige colour though.

Whiskeytot · 08/06/2024 18:25

Thanks @NoIdeaWhyNow
i cant get to JL so good to know! I was referring to the JLown brand ones as there is one v similar
just for info, swyft sale prices are disappearing for a bit but if you ring customer service and say you dont want to order just yet they might hold the sale price!( yes I did this!)
Good lick with your decision making!

eau de nil is actually really nice - my late mum’s favourite colour too!

We had a fuschia pink sofa for years. The walls were a farrow and ball colour called Vert de Terre. It looked glorious.
