Looking at carpet for the stairs, landing and upstairs bedrooms. What do you think of crushed velvet vs a matt look? Thanks!

Crushed velvet looks very cheap and tasteless to me (sorry!). Definitely opt for a neutral normal carpet that will stand the test of time better.

Crushed velvet, mirrored furniture, grey everywhere, definitely out of fashion now.

How can carpet even look like crushed velvet?

Sorry OP, I agree with @witchyway. Nothing in crushed velvet looks classy to me-it's very 'TOWIE' IMHO.

LOVE IT!!! But I remember it from the 70s.

Never in carpet though.

Mainly clothes and curtains.

And beanbags.

Terrible. Will look dated

It goes hand in hand with velvet dining chairs with a huge gaudy loop handle on the back, mirrored glass furniture and a single wall of glitter wallpaper. And a white Range Rover Evoque on finance.

Thank you! I think crushed velvet may have been the wrong description. It was more like a dual tone velvety carpet so that when one walks on it you can see the footprints and you’d need to hoover it all one direction to get consistency. Then as soon as someone walks on it after the hoover it’s not consistent. We have opted instead for a more regular carpet (lovely too!)
