Help Needed: Are dual purpose fabrics suitable for large bay windows?

I'm planning to have blackout curtains made for a rather large bay window (350cm wide and 260cm drop), and I could really use some advice.

I love the feel of thicker, dual-purpose curtain fabrics (upholstery & curtains), but I'm concerned they might look too bulky, especially when they're open.
Has anyone had experience with thick curtains for large windows? How do they look when pulled to the sides? Or shall I give up and go for a cotton blend fabric instead?

Here are two fabrics I'm considering:

I'd appreciate any insights. Thanks in advance!

Forgot to add: the curtains will be double pinch pleat.

All those fabrics are perfect for curtains, pinch pleats are nice and neat when drawn and open.

It's the curtain rail that needs to be wider than the window frame so when the curtains are open the sit beside the window and not covering it.

Thanks @hushabybaby. The curtain track (ceiling-fixed) is wider than the window but not by much, unfortunately. This is because the ceiling height of the bay is lower than the height of the ceiling of the room, and the window frame occupies about 95% of the bay. So, we have about 10cm or so "extra" track on each side, and some of the curtain, when pulled to the side, will have to cover at least part of the window.

It's usually 15cm extra each end so you'll be fine with 10cm.

That's great to know. Many thanks @hushabybaby !

Thick fabrics are great for large windows. They insulate against heat and cold and they deaden noise. The trick is to buy beautiful tie-backs in a compatible style that set off the colour of the fabrics and work well with the other colours in the room.

Thanks @HeliotropeAlba . Will look into tie-backs as well.
