Feature walls - terrible or not?

Are feature walls still really naff?

We had a colour consultant come round to advise us on how to decorate our open plan living room / kitchen and she suggested wallpaper on one wall.

I can't decide whether to go with it or choose something different. We've taken her advice in the hallway and are really pleased with it but I'm worrying a feature wall could be an expensive mistake!

I mean we have feature walls in a few rooms and I like them. I guess it depends on your taste…

The only important question here is ‘Do you like single wallpapered walls?’ Followed by ‘Do you think this will work in your room?’

If you're not planning on selling, then who cares what anyone thinks? Your house should be something you love and feel at home in.

I like a room to have a focus, e.g. a fireplace or a decorative headboard or a beautifully dressed window with a great view. You usually don't have that in an open plan space, so while I'm not usually a fan of feature walls, maybe it would work in your setting.
Do you have any pix, OP?

Go with what you love. I love a bit of variety in rooms and don't see anything wrong with one wall of wallpaper if you love it!!

I still love mine.
