Will I regret having a sage green kitchen?

Am tempted by sage green with white quartz worktops and a warm neutral on the walls, with oak accents in the form of shelves and dining table.

This will be the last kitchen we fit so I have to love it for the rest of my years!

I hope not...I have this exact kitchen arriving in 3 weeks!

Diversion · 26/05/2024 20:27

I think that no matter what colour kitchen you get, that after looking at it and cooking in it for a number of years you will get sick of it. I would get something that you can paint in the future, which may solve your issue if you fall out of love with it.

StripedTomatoes · 26/05/2024 20:28

I think coloured kitchens are going to date really quickly whereas white will always be classic.

Pippatpip · 26/05/2024 20:31

Nope. I luff mine!

Roryhon · 26/05/2024 20:34

I’ve had white/cream kitchens with wooden work surfaces for the last two decades, but they m also tempted by a dull/light sage green/beige colour and white surfaces. There’s a lot of oak and stone already in the room. I’m going to have something that I can paint easily if I don’t like it!

holbolllol · 26/05/2024 20:35

Absolutely not. You will love it.

Houseplanter · 26/05/2024 20:37

@SorrowsPrayers can I ask where you're having yours from?

just had to look up "sage green"

it all depends on the shade, the size of the kitchen, the design, the worktop colour and wall colours etc plus types of handles

Mrsdht · 26/05/2024 20:38

Mine is sage green and I love it. Moving soon to a house with white gloss and I don't love it

CormorantStrikesBack · 26/05/2024 20:39

I’ve had a light sage green kitchen for 25 years with cherrywood worktop. Love it.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 26/05/2024 20:40

It will be gorgeous. Worse case scenario, could you get the doors re-sprayed after a few years if you did fancy a change?

Tadpole10 · 26/05/2024 20:41

We wanted sage green but couldn't find the right sage green. Ended up with a subtle light powder blue with white quartz with grey and sandy coloured threads running through it, it's gorgeous.

Will be getting the cabinets painted green if we get sick of the blue anytime.

Yours sounds beautiful.

If you like it does it matter if it dates?,

Houseplanter · 26/05/2024 20:43

I couldn't care less if it's considered on trend or not in 10 years.. so long as I haven't gone off it..

I do love green..

I do too. My countertops are green, and I've never tired of them. When I replace them, I will have green again.

SorrowsPrayers · 26/05/2024 20:45

@Houseplanter It's from a small, local company (Dorset/Hampshire border) called The Kitchen Company.

BIWI · 26/05/2024 20:46

My kitchen cabinets are Hague Blue, and I love, love the colour. I don't care if it's fashionable or not.

So same with you - if you love the colour, regardless of 'fashion' then go for it. If fashion bothers you, then go for white. Which will always work/not be out of fashion.

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 26/05/2024 20:49

I really don’t think colours will date like they used to.

It used to be magnolia walls (90s), grey everything (00s) and now it’s all shades of everything - greens, navy, creams, so there’s more diversity.

I think sage green is lovely

RinklyRomaine · 26/05/2024 20:49

I have a sage kitchen with sparkly white quartz, limed oak furniture and black handles. I love it 2 years later and will probably copy it when we move shortly.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 26/05/2024 20:50

How dark is it? I thought I wanted a sage green living room but I actually ended up with a much lighter shade.

if you love it then it’s going to be perfect.

Houseplanter · 26/05/2024 20:52

@SorrowsPrayers thank you. Just had a look at their website.. looks gorgeous but sadly too far away.

I have exactly this! With brass handles. Love it.

AmelieTaylor · 26/05/2024 21:00

I wouldn't, but I can't answer for you 😂😂

Like a PP I can't find the Sage I want. But kitchen isn't the first thing that needs doing, so hopefully I'll find it before crunch point!!
