Luxuriant carpet recommendations?

I have a very small flat, eg. bedroom is roughly 350 x 250 cm. The good thing is that it costs less to decorate (carpets, wallpaper)!

I would like to use this factor to get a really good luxuriant carpet for my bedroom and possibly also the "living zone" of my living room/kitchen. Can anyone give me any suggestions or point me to good suppliers?

I was even thinking of getting a large Persian rug for the latter. Was also thinking of a sort of rug pile carpet for the bedroom. Bedroom faces north and I think I need warm red or rich burgundy tones.... or possibly a deep black colour?

budget?

I don't really have any budget, so the sky is the limit! As I say, I save on paying less for things like wallpaper and even my heating bill is pretty small, because the flat is so tiny. The main room faces south and so that "pays" for the heating as well; the bedroom faces north, but I like a cold room, so that is fine.

i suspect that once you start researching… you will soon realise you most definitely do have a budget!

Just remember the darker the carpet the more you will see! Every single bit of fluff, hair, bits of cotton!

Get a nice underlay as well

Get a nice underlay as well

Very important advice! Really thick, high-quality underlay is what gives "luxuriant" as you feel your mollycoddled bare feet sink into it, then gently bounce back up.

Assuming you're not actually going for silk carpet or somesuch, you'll obviously get wool. The densest pile you can afford - and don't stint on the underlay!

I agree, the underlay makes a world of difference. We treated ourselves to a really thick underlay and really thick carpet for our bedroom and it was well worth it. It feels lovely! We used the thickest underlay with regular carpet in the other bedrooms and they still feel really nice.
Have purchased from both Carpet Right and Tapi Carpets in the past year and both have been fine in terms of carpet choices and quality. Check the breakdown of the bill very carefully before paying though as both tend to add on random extras that you don't necessarily need (e.g. hoovering up at the end. You can do that yourself and save a few quid). Saved us £150 on our last purchase by carefully checking what they had added on.
