Hi, I have these mosaic tiles that are in my bathroom that I hate. They were put in by previous owners. Any ideas of how I can get rid of them or if I can put some tiles on top?

Thanks!

Oof that's quite a stylistic choice!

In my limited experience I think you'd have to rip them off and have the area skimmed.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can give you other options.

Yep it’s not to my taste at all and in such an awkward position with behind the tap!

Yikes!

I've recently seen a lot of clips of decorators on instagram using this to stick on backing boards/tile effect sections. I wonder whether it might be a good temporary fix for you while you get something more permanent sorted?

I wonder if those would work on the pebble effect? Might need a bit of filler to smooth them out first?

You don't want to make the gap behind the taps too small. I'd scrape the cabochons off and replace the tiles completely. It's a messy job but will be much quicker if you can take the basin off. Then you can take the basin off for a day you could remove the old tile and make good, then put the basin back and tile from scratch.
If you don't have isolator valves on the pipes to the basin get a plumber to put them in. It isn't a big job and will give you a lot more flexibility when decorating in the future.

Thanks folks. I ended up posting in the DIY section and the tiles are now off!
