Hi! Just looking for some inspiration! We're having our garage converted soon, and still haven't decided on the best type of flooring. Children are 1 and 3 so it will need to withstand the typical mess that goes along with very young children! If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

I would personally either go for laminate flooring with a foam playmat on top, or vinyl flooring (the thick kind so it’s soft). I have both types in my house and they’re great - look really nice, waterproof, and super easy to clean - I use a floor steamer on both to disinfect and I love it.

Either sheet vinyl or LVT for ease of cleaning. We also converted a garage into a playroom, you want a floor you can easily pick things up off (small bit of lego you can use a dust pan and brush) and wipe up any spills whether water or paint or potty accidents. We also laid those interlocking foam tiles on top for some cushioning when they were very little. Again easy to clean.

We have amntico. Looks great and is very hard wearing

Probably not a popular choice but we have tiles in most of ours downstairs and never had an issue with the kids playing on them. In the room they play we have a big rug in front of the sofas but they're equally as likely to play on the bare tiles. Children are built differently to adults!

we had flotex in the boys' bedroom and the playroom (and the study as well, offcut). Still there doing reasonably well 15 years later.

Thank you for all the replies! We've decided to go for amtico flooring with a rug to make it a bit cosier! x

I'd get cork (gorgeous and warm) or rubber or linoleum (the proper stuff made from linseed oil, not vinyl). No plastic flooring.

Amtico and a totter and tumble mat- worth every penny!
