Kitchen cabinet paint issue

We’ve just had a tiler come in to install the kitchen tiles. He left masking tape on the cabinets and told us to leave it for 24 hours to let everything dry before removing it.
Went to remove it this morning and saw white underneath it and assumed it was something that could be wiped off. Removed the tape and have seen that it’s actually the cupboard paint that has come off. Nothing on the masking tape so confused about what has happened but can feel that the grey is raised and white is not. It looks terrible!

Going to text him but not sure what can be done. Cabinets were installed this year by magnet.

Any suggestions?

I’d wait till he responds but ultimately try some white spirit, his insurance should cover it.

If it won't clean off then I would contact magnet. Masking tape shouldn't take the finish off kitchen cupboards.

Oh god sorry op, I misunderstood it’s the cabinet paint that’s come off, not paint has slipped under the tape. Sorry. I also second contact magnet.

Are you sure its not the tile adhesive- does it feel rough? The white looks like a 'comb' pattern which the tiler would use to apply the adhesive

If so if should come off but check with the tiler the best way to do it to avoid damaging the cabinets

If there’s no paint on the tape it can’t have taken the paint off. It must be tape residue?
