Is it naff to have chair bows on ordinary dining room chairs? I'm thinking hessian ones something like this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252661524136?chn=ps&_ul=GB&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1Cfd5QuidTAyWsi0Z6nHWWQ37&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=252661524136&targetid=1816459697405&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006705&poi=&campaignid=19097601017&mkgroupid=152525099668&rlsatarget=pla-1816459697405&abcId=9303862&merchantid=113596400&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkBW3pJIVewceQACd3gkbRRWRvhJIli5B2Iu5W3ZKnRXTdVViyDmEssaAlZjEALw_wcB

But wondered whether this was just a wedding thing.

I'm desperate to spruce up my dining room without spending a fortune so I was thinking of buying chair bows, wall lights, table cloth and pictures.

Any advice appreciated.

Yes.
But, its your home, so you do you.

OMGitsnotgood · 09/04/2024 21:02

Not for me but it's not my house!

Bearpawk · 09/04/2024 21:02

Yes, sorry

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 09/04/2024 21:03

They are ok for Christenings & Weddings. I wouldn't have them in my house though.

UneTasse · 09/04/2024 21:03

My mother in law would be all over that. Very American.

if you love them and they fit with your decor, then go for it!

Taxidriverinfront · 09/04/2024 21:05

I think they’re pretty pointless at weddings but if you like the look, go for it.

BoohooWoohoo · 09/04/2024 21:07

Not for me but I’ve seen people on social media do them for Christmas dinner too.

Jeezitneverends · 09/04/2024 21:10

I think it’s naff, but I'm sure there’ll be something in my house which you think is naff!

What about stretchy chair covers @ByUmberViewer? You can get four for £20, they're not bad if you're wanting a cheap change without replacing all your chairs. Lots of nice fabrics too.

OK guys thanks I'm gonna give the bows a miss and probably get some new stretchy covers like @ohsoverrrrytired linked to.

I’m struggling to picture a chair that would be improved or made to fit in better by a bow. I think they would just look like chairs that don’t match, with bows on.
