Utility room storage inspiration

I’m lucky enough to have a utility room with washing machine, dryer, boiler, sink etc. We have two dogs and horses so the room acts as a buffer between the outside and the rest of the house, but it has started to become a dumping ground for coats, boots, dog towels and so on.

I’ve got two sets of coat pegs but these are now overrun and three ikea trofast drawers the contents of which also need to be pruned .
I’ve decided to get the house in order so want to start tackling it one room at a time..

Any practical, stylish ideas and solutions gratefully received.

It's quite hard to suggest without knowing what the space looks like! Understand you don't want to take photos, but maybe you could draw a bird's-eye sketch of what goes where?

I’d agree floor plan would be a good idea. I’ve recently done my utility. Things that have helped I put in a worktop over the washer dryer. There is pipework for the boiler there so it’s not flush with the wall but there’s a lip to stop stuff falling down the back. Stackable baskets. Everyone has one and I fold/ put it in basket so it’s good to go upstairs.

Self adhesive hooks, good for up to 1.5kg so a row for bike helmets/ umbrellas etc. Coat hooks with baskets above for sunglasses/ gloves. A shelf for cleaning stuff.

I’ve found b&m really good for stackable storage.

If you google "boot room ideas" you get loads of suggestions. I've seen some great ones on home improvement shows but my utility isn't big enough for any of them. I think the general premise is "a specific place for everything" so I guess first job would be a list of what you need to store.

If you google boot rooms though they’re lovely, but seem to be aimed at people with not many pairs of wellies or coats, and they’re always spotlessly clean, not smelling of horses! Let alone with walking boots or hiking boots and a shed load of hats.l, plus dog leads and coats.

Actually the Horse and Hound forum might have more relatable ideas.

Yeah, you'll get no ideas whatsoever
