Inspiration for large living room wall expanse!

We have a 5 meter stretch of wall in the living room, directly opposite a large window and am struggling for inspiration on what to do with it….its just so big and bare and when you look on from the outside it looks like we haven’t decorated the house (accurate!)
currently we have a sofa in the middle of it but it looks a bit clinical. Would like something that makes it look warmer, homely but not cluttered,
Things I don’t want:
nothing super modern
Mirror
Shelves
those three piece pictures
family photo wall
hanging tapestries or anything too homemadey

Do I go for a massive picture or lots of little ones (I really struggle to find pictures I like so it could be bare for a long time. Or something different altogether?

how have you decorated your large livingroom expanses? Hit me with some inspiration! It feels impossible 😁

I have 2 walls like that, one I bought a very large original piece of art which is of something I really like, quite colourful and well 'arty'! I chose to paint the wall a slightly different colour than the others as it makes the picture stand out more.

The other wall I have a number of prints/pictures of different sizes all in different frames of the same subject but none are the same style, some older prints some more modern, I love it and have left a bit of space in case I see anything else to add.

I personally would go for a very large piece of art, as I love that. But a good one is quite expensive. For a cheaper alternative, you could paint it with a pattern of some kind. I saw something really nice like that in your home made perfect, but I can't remember which one! I'll try to find some examples online.

Plants, tables, standard lamps for either end of your sofa. A bookcase? A picture rail with different pictures? Interesting wall paper or paint?

Thanks everyone for suggestions…I think probably one oversized or a couple of large thematically similar paintings…I just can never find any that I love! I think it is going to be a bare wall for a while. I’d consider getting something commissioned…I think I just need to search properly rather than waiting for inspiration to hit

How about a more modern wall hanging? There are some lovely ones by Eva Nemeth on Etsy, they arent cheap though.
I agree with standard lamps, side tables and large plants to soften the edges too, maybe wall lamps as well (can be rechargeable rather than wired, look at Pooky).

I had a big wall in my shower room - the room was too narrow to have furniture and it looked weird with art on it - the expanse was too large - no interest, no framing - the art looked lost and ineffective. I painted in a dado line, very easy to do - painted a dark shade in the bottom, lighter on top...it had the effect of creating a bit of interest - a frame for the art - it broke up the large expanse of paint. If you can't put furniture - shelves or a sideboard, a couple of lamps - art can still look like you are trying to fill a dead space rather than display something beautiful art
