i hate this thing. What do you do with the excess cushions when going into bed?

My friend who used to have a few cushions on the bed threw her cushions on the floor before going into bed. In the middle of the night she needed to visit the loo. On the way back, she tripped on one of the cushions and smacked her head on the corner of her bedside drawers broke her nose.

I put mine on the chaise longue at bottom of bed...i only have 3 though

Northernsouloldies · 27/03/2024 23:45

Used to years ago pita to deal with of a night time plus looks very dated .

The number in that link is insane. It's annoying when hotels have pillows on the bed, there often isn't anywhere sensible to stow them.

I don't have cushions, I just have enough pillows.

DiscoBeat · 28/03/2024 01:42

That bed gives me the rage.

Giggorata · 28/03/2024 01:48

Gawd, that's a lot of cushions.

I stopped doing that, as it is very annoying to move them all the time.
And everyone knows the chair is for the pile of clothes that need sorting, not for a pile of annoying slippery satin cushions.

Okokokokokplease · 28/03/2024 01:50

I just have pillows 🤷‍♀️and a dog.

Chypre · 28/03/2024 01:57

I only have 2, I put them on the floor (out of the way - by the window) along with a bed spread. Not all of my bedding sets complement the room (moved house less than a year ago), spread and cushions complete the look better.

Lostsadandconfused · 28/03/2024 04:04

That's a very dated look. I have one max per bed. At night they go on the floor leaning up against the side of my bedside table with the 3rd and 4th 'reading pillows'

Overtheatlantic · 28/03/2024 04:09

This has given me a chuckle. I love a couple of cushions but my husband doesn’t even like pillows so the bed in the picture is his worst nightmare.

Nellieinthebarn · 28/03/2024 14:27

I have a couple of cushions so I can sit up and read, but I feel that any more than is functional is just making unnecessary work.

TobarnanGealt · 28/03/2024 14:30

I loathe bed cushions, or any non-functional bed decoration. When I was a hotel chambermaid in my student days, the decorative bed cushions (and pointless throws in shiny fabric that lie uselessly across the bottom of the bed) were never washed, so I think of them as mildly revolting germ bombs and stow them away in the wardrobe as soon as I enter a hotel room.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2024 14:34

Oh yes those bottom of the bed bits of cloth... I can only assume their purpose is to protect the duvet if someone plonks themself on the bed with their shoes on. Obviously shoved away somewhere asap.

I think that must be how they originated, but recently, it seems to have truncated from a something covering the bottom half or one third of the bed to something more like a slim strip of fabric which couldn't be anything as useful as be an anti-shoe/suitcase dirt protector.

(I have just googled and these are called 'bed scarves'. I hate them.)

I only have two so they just slot between the bed and the bedside table. If it were just me I’d have bloody loads of gorgeous cushions but DH detests that look.

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 28/03/2024 17:36

It's just NAFF

DappledThings · 28/03/2024 21:15

Pointless and prissy looking.
