Potentially Need to redecorate a full house….

Considering buying a new house which is near the top of our budget. We will have money over to do simple redecoration such as painting. Flooring , bathroom, kitchen etc don’t need touching at all.
however, all the downstairs rooms still have wallpaper on the ceilings!!
How easy is this to remove? Could we do it ourselves or would we need to get someone in? Does the ceiling ALWAYS need re plastering or skimming after? Not sure I can live with it like it is, but if it’s an expensive job, not sure I really want the expense or hassle.

I couldn't say if the ceiling would definitely need skimming BUT it's safer to assume it might and get some idea of what that would cost.
Also, even if you are comfortable with paying for some redecoration, I've found that it's best to prepare for things taking longer and costing more than you expect.
