How would you style this living room?

We’ve had an offer accepted on a property we really like, is in a perfect area for us and has everything we want for the right price. However, I’m not sure how to style this living room?

Is it okay to put a sofa where that radiator is, or would that look weird? I can’t really think of any other way to configure it but not sure if I’m missing something!

Sofa facing the fireplace

Def sofa opposite the chimney breast. Make a window seat in the bay for additional seating (with storage under the seating if needed). Fitted shelves in alcoves either side of chimney breast if practical.

Thank you, I love the fitted shelves idea! Was a bit worried about storage but I think that would work well

Just a word of warning on the alcoves, take width measurements at the front and back. I didn't and it turns out the front is more narrow than the back. Spent ages sanding them down to fit 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would get rid of the connecting doors and have two separate rooms

If you pull the sofa out a bit from the wall to allow the air to circulate it will be fine and will make you very cozy sitting on it.

However, my issue with a sofa facing the chimney breast is there's no fireplace. So what will you be looking at? I think you'll either have to remove the chimney breast altogether or replace the fireplace, and put in a stove or something. Or ignore it and have two sofas facing each other with one with it's back to the window and the other with its back to the double doors. That way you stop the sitting room and dining room feeling like a long thin room.

I would reinstate the wall between the living and dining rooms and gain an extra wall.

With the new wall, you can create a dedicated area for your cushions. Consider adding a comfortable bench or a cozy reading nook against the wall, complete with decorative cushions for added comfort and style. This setup allows for a more intimate atmosphere, perfect for both relaxing and entertaining.

It’s beautiful.
Sofa against the radiator.
I would install a gorgeous fireplace or working log burner. Large mirror above fireplace.

Thank You Everyone for you kind feelings
