Ideas for top of stairs

Grateful for any ideas for putting something in corner at top of the stairs on landing. Can't have a plant as no natural sunlight....(tried and they died) not a fan of fake plants plus can't stand those decorative twigs as collect dust/look cheap (only my personal opinion 🙈) have DC who are boisterous so nothing fragile.

We used to keep our laundry basket there but I suspect that's not the kind of look you're going for

Sorry nothing helpful from me but in our old house we had a small cupboard and had pictures hanging on the wall above it. This actually looked good.

In our current house the landing is very slightly shorter between the top stair and the wall and so can't easily have furniture that runs along the wall. Also we have a radiator there and the wall extends beyond what you can see coming up the stairs so I am struggling with what to put on the wall. It either looks odd from the top of the stairs or coming up the stairs.

In your position could you consider a mirror or picture on the wall rather than something on the floor? Otherwise go for a pot table and put something decorative on it.
