Bannister paint colour

Hello! What colour would you paint this bannister? Or would you paint it at all? I'm thinking maybe dark grey but can't decide.

FYI I dislike the grey floor a lot but it's staying for the forseeable as can't afford to change it currently.

EDITED to add: I can't seem to upload a photo, or delete this post so I guess I'll never know...😑

I work for a lady who has dark grey stair carpet and matt black bannisters.. Looks fab.

Pleat by little greene. It’s a cool colour so won’t clash with the floor but will provide colour and interest. I think grey bannisters will be too drab and date quickly

White gloss (or eggshell).
Whatever the doors and rest of the woodwork are.

White

White or leave it as the wood looks nice - wax, varnish, stain if needs be

Rayna37 · 08/02/2024 17:29

Once you've painted it, it will need painting forever so leave well enough alone unless it looks wildly out of place.

That said I've got bannisters in dark brown stain/gloss which need doing and I'm very taken with making a change to very dark grey.

Looks nice as it is in my opinion.

As a pp said, once painted, you’ll forever be touching up the contact points- they’ll wear, that’s been my experience anyway with painting wooden bannisters.
