Does coloured paint cost more?

Maybe I am being dense but I am really not sure about this situation. A relative has offered to pay for some decorating which I am incredibly grateful for (old house, been here almost 2 years, havent been well lately and the state of things is getting me down). My initial thought was to paint everything white and then live with it for a while. I am not a naturally white wall, or even neutrals person, I like colour and pattern. Anyway, the decorator has given me a quote - it would be stripping back old wallpaper, put up lining paper and paint everything white. But I have been looking at the paint charts he gave me (for shades of white) and am just yearning for colour. Would that change involve a difference in price if it is the same brand of paint?

Who buys the paint? I'd imagine ot might be more expensive if you are having lots of colours as it's harder to cut in if not all one colour.

But, if you want colour, I would just pay the extra. It's a great opportunity to get a big job ticked off, so get what makes you happy.

I think pure brilliant white and ‘magnolia’ can be bought for less as they are sold in larger quantities and profressionals will buy regularly, keeeping the cost down. But if you were looking at colour charts for your specific shade of white, then I expect it will cost the same as any other coloured paint.

Thanks both. The paint colours are on the chart that the decorator gave me and the cost of paint is included in the price I have been given for the job.
@Seaside3 , it is for 2 colours of paint, one for front room and one for back.
@ViaRia01 , yes, seemed to me that white may be cheaper because they sell most. I guess I will have a chat when he comes to get his charts back.

In the end of the day, I dont mind painting myself, it is the prep that I just cant bring myself to do.
