Paint colour choice for staircase

Hi everything! First time posting on this forum
Thinking of painting mystaircase with Farrow and Ball railings - spindles and Bannister etc.( it's currently different stains of stained wood ). The walls will be most likely skimming stone.

Before I finalize this I wanted what you all felt about how dark colours like railings stood up to everyday wear ? Does dust show up more? Do chips/ scratches show up more. I have a 13 year and a 7 year old but no pets. Or any suggestions on how to maintain them? Is it a lot of work for their upkeep?

Or am I better off going with eggshell white?

Thank you everyone

I'm also interested if dark paintwork chips easily- so watching

So I'm going with black - I'm a tad bored with white staircases.
I have a Victorian staircase - I've stripped the mahogany stained oil off the pitched pine bannister - I've left it unfinished - it feels lovely and looks so natural and lovely and then I'll paint the rest of the staircase and spindles Jack Black, looks quite dramatic. The carpet on the stairs will be either beige/cream or black with cream spots...I'll make that decision when it's painted. I'll warm up the space with wood furniture and old brass fittings.

I have dark wood on the stairs (scullery by little greene so a dark chocolate brown) and it hasn’t chipped or shown dust anymore than anywhere else - i did also put some clear Matt varnish on the handrail so it wouldn’t wear as much without it becoming shiny (I couldn’t be bothered with the spindles as they were too fiddly to do and you can’t tell some has been varnished some hasn’t)
