Please would you suggest alternatives to coir matting?

Very boring I know!

I have a coir mat inset into the floor by my front door. Unfortunately, my elderly and increasingly incontinent dog has decided this is his own personal toilet.

It's really hard to clean it properly, and consequently it now smells (and looks) revolting. What can I put there as an alternative? I need something for people to wipe their feet on as they come in, and I need something I can wash. Any suggestions much appreciated, thank you,

Ugh, had this exact issue with cats. Was the absolute bane of my life trying to clean it / keep them away from it at night / replacing it / eventually just taking it up. We moved since, so no longer have the issue, but having stupidly since bought - and abandoned - a jute rug for the same reason, I recently discovered Ruggable that do washable rugs, but also doormats. (I havent bought, just considering). The doormats have a rubber backing and the top layer can be removed and easily washed / swapped out. It wouldn't fill the void for the mat, but perhaps it's an option to use it over the top of the coir matting in the hope that it becomes a more manageable target..! I don't know if that helps at all, if not hopefully this serves as a bump for someone with another idea to come along! Good luck.
