Hi all,

We're about to have our open plan living & dining room and hallway (up and down) repainted and are trying to choose a colour. Our painter colour matches farrow and ball so we're trying to choose one of those just to narrow down the choices a bit, and we have swatches painted on lining paper which we're moving around. However, it's so hard to imagine what the neutrals are going to look like once it's across such a big space (stairs come out of the dining room so it all needs to be the same).

If you have any rooms painted in a farrow and ball neutral please could you share photos? We think two potentials are ammonite or shadow white, but are open to other options too. I know there are photos on the F&B website but we're looking for the colours in 'real' homes.

We've also chosen Calluna and Teresea's green for other parts of the house so any photos of those would be appreciated!

Thank you.

Sorry I can't help, but have you looked on Pinterest? I usually look there to see what colours will look like in different spaces

I have other f and b colours. Search for them on Instagram, there should be loads in the 1st 2 you mention, probably less in the 2nd two.

One thing I would mention is that whilst the colour match does mimic the colour well (we have friends who have colour matched), it doesn't respond to the light in the same way that F&B does.

So if you are using actual F&B and moving it around for contrast, the colour match won't do the same.

The neutrals we have are wimbourne white (my favourite!), strong white (beautiful, DH's favourite) and Wevet (basically plain white so would use it for ceilings, staircases, panelling etc). Wimbourne is a buttery white, SW has some grey undertones but reacts beautifully to the light throughout the day and Wevet is essentially straight white, very good when complementing other colours

We have blackened in our lounge & it’s lovely

Yes I agree with @HuntyGirl – colour matching isn’t the same. That said, I have colour matched for recent projects because I can’t afford F&B right now, and it’s fine – but just not the same reaction to light or depth of colour.

This is my (unstyled, it’s only just been done and I haven’t moved any furniture back in yet!) landing which is in Railings and Strong White. The doors and woodwork are bright white. This is colour-matched Johnstone’s.
