Console / Wicker Basket Suggestions

Hoping to use the brain power of fellow Mumsnetters.

Recently bought the console pictured but didn't think about storage underneath practically.

It has a bar running along the middle but I'd like to have a wicker storage basket underneath for slippers / shoes etc.

Am I making it up, or do wicker baskets exist that have a gap on the base (so it would technically sit over the bar?).

I've attached a picture of the kind of thing I'm thinking, just in plastic.

I might be dreaming but I've exhausted google image search.

Choose basket you like then hot glue 2 piece of 1x2 wood under the bottom of basket (not full width so you can't see them from the sides). This will act as feet to elevate the baskets over the bar

You can buy them with wheels which might be high enough to raise the basket over the bar?
bit like this?

Get some shelving cut to size in matching white board, it will rest on the two cross bars. B&Q cut their stuff to size for nothing locally.

Then you can put whatever you like on the bottom shelf.

Thank you. I hadn't thought of this. 😊

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen Thank you for this suggestion. We do have a lot of storage elsewhere in the hallway, this would just be something temporary for visitors / rushing out of the door. :)
