Question about paint

So, we have used Farrow and Ball in our kitchen for years. There have been some problems with condensation in an area near the back wall, mainly due to a rubbish extractor fan that we didn't realise was quite so rubbish until recently - and after we repainted using a scrubbable emulsion in a F&B colour (I can't remember the brand, maybe Crown? The decorator, who is hugely recommended and really good, said he never used F&B, but this copycat).

Anyway - whilst we wait for a new extractor, I'm noticing that the walls are REALLY wet when i cook and there's steam. In places around the kitchen where I'm sure I've never noticed it before.

It looks glossy with wet - could it be the paint that makes it looks worse? The slight sheen? Or has it always been this wet and the matt F&B didn't show it up.

It's weird how it's all happened since we got repainted

From memory the "scrubbable" emulsions contain chemicals like teflon to repel liquids, so it would make sense that moisture is now sitting on the surface rather than being absorbed.

Thank you! I thought I was going mad - my husband refuses to think I'm right.

I guess we can at least see now how much moisture there is - can't imagine there's any difference?
