Colour for chimney breast / alcoves

Hi we have a fairly large lounge, it's all painted F&B strong white atm but want to warm the room a bit with a colour either on chimney breast or the alcoves either side, or maybe that whole wall. I do love the dark blue look but not sure which brand / colour. Any suggestions. Cream carpet & grey sofas atm

If you want to warm the room, I’d steer clear of blues. You need a warmer colour. What aspect does the room have?

If you really want blue, try a rich colour like this..
Personally though, if you're looking yo warm the room, with white, grey and cream, I'd look more to earthy reds and browns. Getting the right blue will be almost impossible.

Wine Dark

A rich, dark blue

That’s a lovely colour, @Seaside3, but it may come off as chilly in a north or even east-facing room, if the OP really wants to go warmer and is sticking with the current cool-toned carpet and furniture.

OP, what direction do your windows face?

Not all blues are cold, @Venomous
We have railings in our lounge, which is East facing, it's not cold, and inchyra blue in our wast facing bedroom, again, not cold.

But, I did suggest they steer away from blues if they're looking to warm the room, as ut can be difficult to get the right undertone.

No, but if they’re looking to warm a room they feel is currently too cold, and which has non-negotiable grey sofa and cream carpet, I think it would need both a careful choice of blue AND probably a lot of extra input with warm-coloured accessories. Easier to just go with a more non-negotiable warm wall colour?

We have Inchyra Blue on the stairs, and it’s gorgeous, but most of the light is from the west-facing front door and landing window, and in any case, I’m happy to embrace moody colours and dark. We are probably going to repaint the living room in De Nimes or Hague after a leak, but might consider Wine Dark now you put it into my head. It’s south- facing and very bright, and has a mustard-coloured sofa.
