Looking for recommendations for what colour to paint the walls of our living room (see photo).

It's currently magnolia.

We are looking for a light, warm neutral colour.

TIA.

A pale peach would go well with the grey suite and brown carpet. You could do the alcove walls a darker shade
we have pale peach in our lounge

That cushion behind the check one would make a lovely wall colour

Yes, a plaster pink. F&B Setting Plaster or most other paint companies do a soft, neutral plaster pink. It would go well with your blue seating.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Yes, or their Dead Salmon, if you wanted something deeper and warmer.

What aspect has the room, OP?

DoppelgängerTimes · 24/11/2023 13:52

I would paint the walls the same colour as the sofas, and place a rug that reflects the colour of both the wall and perhaps the brown carpet to tie it all in together whilst still having contrast and brightening up and opening up the space.

I would also introduce vases and art in those two tones.

It depends how safe you want to play it…

It does depend on which way the room's facing. What's the colour in the room at the back of the pic (dining room?). That looks nice, could you carry that through but one shade lighter or darker, depending on the lightness in the room.

Rupster · 24/11/2023 17:12

The room faces north-east. The dining room next to it (facing south-west) is the same colour and I would like to keep both rooms with the same colour walls.

I'd prefer a neutral colour to blue. I'm not that keen on pink/peach either, but I appreciate all your comments nonetheless.

I think the room would benefit more from a change of carpet colour, rather than wall. The carpet colour is severely limiting wall colour choices. Would you consider a large rug?

Rupster · 25/11/2023 16:25

I don't want to put a rug in.

I was thinking of a light greige, but I'm struggling to find a suitable colour. The light neutral paint colours either seem to be either grey or beige, but not greige.

I was thinking mocha, Dulux do one.

What about Calamine? It's pink but I heard heard it described as an elevated neutral recently. I have it in my sitting room and it's light and airy in the day time but with warm
lighting it looks almost a warm beige in the evenings.

MrsRachelDanvers · 29/11/2023 07:14

A good warm neutral is Hemp Beige from Craig and Rose-goes nicely with anything blue.

Elephants Breath by Farrow and Ball is a greige colour.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 29/11/2023 23:30

I would do a warm shade such as school house white or Joas white (f and b). It would work with both the sofa and the carpet.

lashy · 29/11/2023 23:36

Farrow and Ball, Skimming Stone.
Ticks all your boxes.
Living room at previous was this colour and living room and my bedroom in new house both painted this colour.
Such a lovely, warm, light neutral.

Egyptian cotton might be an option (dulux) sample it well though. In my house it looks very yellow, but in my OH's is a beautiful warm greige
