Council house and carpets

So I'm having to move out of my current council house ( serious disrepair/damp/mould and deemed uninhabitable)

And move Into another one of their council houses but im worried about having no flooring or carpets.. will the council carpet the new house considering I've had to move due to their failings in repairing this house ( lived here 11 years with serious damp)

The lady mentioned she could get me help to ger a van so I don't have to Incur those costs bur shouldn't they provide flooring in this instance?

They've offered me £750 compensation for the disrepair but by policy they have to take £563 from that to pay my rent arrears on this property ( I got into arrears back when my husband left as I had no income then and due to codt of living i could only afford actual rent and no spare for arrears ).so I won't have much left for carpets

Is there any grants i would apply for

Thanks x

Local Council Housing Grants For Furniture And Carpets
Numerous local councils in the United Kingdom provide grants for furniture and carpets to assist those in need. You should contact your Local Authority directly to determine if they offer this grant.
The amount of money available and eligibility requirements can vary from council to council, so it is essential to check with your local government to determine their offer. You may also have access to other forms of assistance, such as furniture recycling programmes and delivery services, at a reduced cost.

If not, are you able to lift the carpets from where you are now to take with you? They won’t be a perfect fit but would at least be some floor covering whilst you get something sorted.

Did you have any insurance that could cover this?

I can’t imagine there is any insurance that pays for new carpets in a property you don’t currently live in but you are soon to be moving to.

If the move has been made compulsory upon you, through no fault of your own, and you had what I’m assuming is a secure tenancy, it might be that you are entitled to a “home loss” payment that may be in the order of thousands. Good luck!
