Electric log burner

Hiya, I'm hankering after a fire - I've always loved one but the house we are (long term) renting doesn't have one. I feel I need a centrepiece that isn't the tv! 😂 I've got my eye on an electric log burner type thing, but I've never done it before. Can I buy one then buy a mantelpiece and the slates for underneath and it not look daft on a flat wall!?! All advice welcome!

I used to have an all in one electric fireplace when I was living in rental. I thing it came from B&Q and was very cheap. It wasn't grand but an improvement to the look and feel of the place.

I have a super cheap one from B&M under a mantelpiece and it looks fine. Way better than just a blank wall. You can have the fire bit on with no heat which is a nice centrepiece to the room.

We have a Dimplex one which had a similar set up in previous property.

Thank you everyone! Yes I just think having it would immediately make the room feel cosier, which is very important to me 😂

Might be a daft question but with these all in one suites do you have to remove skirting board so it fits flat to the wall?
