Hi,
What price range have you been quoted for home decoration?
I've been quoted £3-£4K for three rooms in house in west London including woodwork and walls.
I've also been quoted £4.5K for an entire 2 double bed flat in central Nottingham, including walls, ceilings, woodwork (skirting and windows/doors) and radiators.

What sort of prices have you paid or been quoted, for what, where you are?
Trying to get a proper understanding of what's good value.
(Nottingham decorator absolutely fantastic - excellent quality, fab customer service/ very personable, and very high spec finish. JT Decorators in Stapleford - very highly recommend. Highly recommended decorator Midlands and able to travel.

Many thanks and look forward to learning about this!

South West

We paid £2.5k for three rooms. There were three of them here and it took a week (8am - 5pm). The quality of the work was excellent (and included all preparation, stripping wallpaper, sanding, filling in cracks, etc). We bought the wallpaper and paint.

Hall, landing, stairs (2 flights) stripped of wall paper, redone with emulsion and gloss.
Kitchen & utility emulsion and gloss.
Crazy amount of nail holes filled.
We bought the paint.
We overpaid compared to the invoice, as he under charged. Quoted (verbally) we think 120/day. Invoiced at 100/day - total 600.
Absolute bargain.

I usually pay between 100 and 150 pounds per person/day (150 for experienced skilled decorator, 100 for a trainee/helper who works under supervision). I'd always ask for day rate and then would set and agree a realistic time frame for the work to arrive at a mutually agreeable quote. Live and work in South West.

Thanks for your replies all. If you haven't let me know whereabouts in the country you're located please would you share that? Really helpful for me.
Have a great evening.

Our decorator charges £180 per day. We're in SW London. Had lounge done recently. Wallpaper stripped and walls were prepped with this treatment which meant no plastering was required (less time to complete). Paper on 1 wall then paint on rest and all wood work (skirtings, fire surround, rad, 2 little windows and a windowsill). It took him 6.5 days. Materials were on top of that.

Central London, 2 bed flat, between zone 1-2. Needed it done twice, due to a leak from upstairs!
18mths ago- Sanded and painted on zinnser bin over water marks. Repainted 2 bedrooms, including small bathroom, hall and 2x small hall cupboards (ceiling and walls). Repainted a plain, feature wall. Glossed window sills and doors. Removed, shaved and re-hung 2 doors that had swollen due to the leak. £2000. We paid/provided the paint.

2mths ago- Repaired a side plate sized hole in the ceiling/plaster. Repainted the kitchen ceiling x2, also repainted the 2 hall cupboards x2. £600. We provided the paint.

Last year. South East. Large, 4 bed house, 2hrs from London, being renovated. 2x white coats onto new plaster. Ceilings and all walls, but no doors, skirtings or edging. House was empty- so no removing of light fittings, curtains or avoiding paint getting on things other than the floor. £3000.
