Seeking experienced advice - carpets and bathrooms

Hi there

Am seeking the collective wisdom of the Mumsnet experience, I've gained so much insight here.

We're thinking of some fairly big ticket items coming up - carpeting the stairs and whole of upstairs (4 beds upstairs, so quite a large space, terrified of getting it wrong). We popped into carpetright today for some fact finding, and they recommended 100% polypropylene, short pile twist for our circumstances (our delightful cat likes dismembering animals on the carpet, and leaves various entrails which can be very difficult to clean from the current textured carpets 🤢). I've not bought any carpet for at least 20 years, before kids, so feel totally underprepared.

Second is thinking of replacing the family bathroom. Some good brands with longevity and some bathroom inspo would be much appreciated!

Thank you all so much in advance.

I've only ever had wool carpets, and wool loops, which are not the hardiest of carpets so you're probably right to avoid those. My dog and toddler have impacted on those, and they're not easy to clean.

Bathroom wise, I love the Lusso Stone stuff

And Mandarin Stone and Boutique Stone are great for tiles

Polypropylene can be vleaned with diluted bleach, do best for cleaning after pets.

Bathroom wise, on a mid to higher budget, I like BC Design and Burlington. Lusso Stone is nice, too. On a lower budget, the Milano range from the Big Bathroom Store is great.

BC Design and Lusso Stone make stone resin baths, which last longer and look and feel better than acrylic. Burlington taps and showers are pretty sturdy.

When we got new carpets we went to the independent carpet shop in our village who were quite a bit cheaper than the likes of Carpetright.
