Looking at decorating DD's room, age 2.

Am I mad to look at blue wallpaper?

I liked this, with the little disney mickey mouse's. It does also come in pink but I think it's a bit bubblegummy?! So prefer the blue shade.

I had thought about the blue wallpaper with possibly a dusky pink carpet - or do I just stick to a creamy carpet or darker blue carpet, with pink accents for bedding, curtains, etc?

Not sure if I'm overthinking!

The room is small but will need wallpaper on all 4 walls.

Furniture is silver cross Ascot, a kind of natural greyish textured oak.

Disney Vol 4. Mickey Star

Subtle pastel tones contrast with shapes from the night sky, moons, shooting stars and of course the iconic Mickey silhouette. A magical collection of wallpapers, borders and murals inspired by the most beloved stories of our time. Excite your wall...

I went for dusky blue walls in https://www.farrow-ball.com/paint-colours/oval-room-blue and dusky pink bed linen and accessories https://fermliving.co.uk/products/cloud-lamp-dusty-rose?variant=41252343873636&gclid=CjwKCAjwkY2qBhBDEiwAoQXK5W9_KZ0Un5NBVmZZbY10oz5nk5B6c_mR8ZxPUOAC9I_10QLfhQO6SRoCI9gQAvD_BwE
It was on the dark side, but this is actually good for babies day napping habits.

Oval Room Blue

Richly pigmented paint and handcrafted wallpaper.

Aren't you worried that your daughter might catch the Gay?

Am I mad to look at blue wallpaper?

could you elaborate a bit?

Am I mad to look at blue wallpaper?
What on earth would be mad about that?

We decorated our nursery with duck egg blue walls having not found out what sex DC1 was because it's a lovely colour. For anyone.

OlderandwiserMaybe · 02/11/2023 16:33

If you like the blue - pick the blue.
I absolutely hate the fact the children's products from clothes to wallpaper and everything in between has been reduced to 2 sickly pale colours!!
Personally I'd be looking for paper in any other colour but blue or pink!

Clearspring1 · 02/11/2023 16:33

Op I was on the thread you started… yesterday about tour £15k credit card debt!!

FGS pay off that, don’t redecorate your 2 year old’s bedroom!!

ErrolTheDragon · 02/11/2023 16:38

Wtf? Blue is fine for any child and essential for none. Pink is fine too and essential for none. Just use the colour scheme you like and forget stupid stereotypes about which colours are suitable or not for girls and boys.

(Fwiw we had yellow with green and orange pattens and accessories).

BebbanburgIsMine · 02/11/2023 17:22

I prefer the pink, but if you prefer the blue, get the blue!

As long as you’ve got the budget for plaid shirts and Doc Martens in 15 years time… 🙄
